Although no cuts to the Thunder Bay Public Library have been announced in the city’s budget, one councillor is standing his ground on the issue.
Andrew Foulds sits on the library board and says if one of his fellow members suggests axing library funds he’ll be standing up against them.
“I can tell you unequivocally that I will not support any cuts to the library. I think our library has been on the cutting edge of leadership and innovation providing services,” Foulds says.
Foulds adds he would like to see more funding for the library system and says their programs have gone a long way to foster reconciliation with the Indigenous population of Thunder Bay.
The council member made his comments on the air with John Ongaro on 99.9 The Bay.
