OIPRD Death Investigations Underway

Work is continuing into the re-investigation of the deaths of nine Indigenous people in Thunder Bay.

An investigative team made up of city police, OPP and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service are conducting some scene re-examinations in the historical re-investigation of these deaths.

People may notice investigators Tuesday in the 200 block of Victoria Avenue East and they’ll investigate another scene Wednesday .

The original investigations into those deaths were identified as “problematic” in a report by the Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD).
