DSSAB Budget Cut By Two Percent

The 2020 budget for Thunder Bay District Social Services Administration Board shows a 2 percent decrease from this year.

Board CEO Bill Bradica tells us that it works out to about $98 million a reduction from the current budget of about $100 million.

He blames the reduction on the province cutting an Ontario Works program which has been in operation since 2003. Bradica explains cutting the program means a reduction of 6 full time positions.

The new budget also included a 1 percent increase in the dues the 15 member municipalities pay the board to run those social programs. The amount each municipality actually pays will be decided at a later date.
