The clock has started ticking on a December 21st strike deadline for catholic teachers in the province. They are members of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association.
Thunder Bay spokesperson Aldo Grillo does not appear too optimistic a new contract with the Ford government can be reached by then. He explains that is because the province has passed legislation putting wage caps in place and that says Grillo “basically handcuffs the whole bargaining process.”
The association is hoping this development will help spur the government help resolve the issues that divide them..
OECTA represents 400 elementary and 160 high school teachers in Thunder Bay.
