The prosecution is winding down its case at the Keith Hobbs extortion trial.
Week two saw most of the crown’s 14 witnesses complete their testimony. That included two women who were selling their homes which one of the accused, Mary Voss, was allegedly interested in purchasing.
Two investigators from the OPP were on the stand who brought with them videos of the alleged extortion victim and one of the accused, Keith Hobbs. The Hobbs videos were taken during police questioning of the former mayor while the investigation was still ongoing with a feisty Hobbs insisting on his innocence.
The alleged victim started week two where he left on on week one, being cross examined by the defence attorneys. His statements proved to be very lively.
It was originally thought the proceedings could go four weeks, but that may not be the case now. The OPP detective investigating the case is expected to stay on the stand for cross examination. However, there is still no indication from the defence whether any of their clients will take the stand.
Hobbs, his wife Marisa and Mary Voss are accused of trying to extort a $400,000 home from the alleged victim.
