There is still no compensation deal between the city and the Lakehead University Thunderwolves men’s hockey team. LU Athletic Director Tom Warden tells us they are deciding how much money the city owes the team for the games lost in September.
The team was scheduled to play the Laurentian Voyageurs at the Fort William Gardens, but problems developed with the ice-making process forcing two games to be cancelled.
He tells us there is a wide range of areas which are being looked at from concession, beer, and merchandise sales, to paying for cancelled airline tickets for the Voyageurs.
There is no indication of exactly how much money was lost. “That’s what we are kind of drilling down to figure out,” explains Warden.
The LU spokesperson adds there is a “willingness to listen on both sides.’ More discussions are planned in the next couple of weeks.
