Cherry Not Backing Down From Comments

The reaction to Don Cherry’s comments on Coaches Corner has dominated social media with everyone commenting, including the coach himself.

Don Cherry is not apologizing about his words regarding immigrants who don’t wear poppies.

His statement says “I know what I said and I meant it. Everyone in Canada should wear a poppy to honour our fallen soldiers.” He further states “To keep my job, I cannot be turned into a tamed robot. The problem is, is if I have to watch everything I say, then it isn’t Coaches Corner.”

He parted ways with Sportsnet after the massive backlash over the Coaches Corner comments, which included the words “you people”.

In a statement, the network says it has been decided it is the right time for him to immediately step down.
