City police report a significant number of complaints are now being made directly to the emergency number.
They say calling 911 to complain about these scams, and other non-emergencies could delay someone getting help in a real emergency situation.
Police suggest there are other avenues for you to connect with in case you are called by someone who wants to trick you into giving them money.
