Do not believe everything you see on your caller ID even if it shows Thunder Bay police are on the line.
Police are telling you not to be fooled, this is a scam.
If you are actually called by city police their name and number will instead show up as an unknown number, private number or something similar.
They say they have received numerous complains about scammers impersonating an officer and telling people they owe a large amount of money, sometimes as much as $5,000.
