Assault Trial Of Senior Man Underway

Four days are set aside for the trial of a Thunder Bay man who is charged with the aggravated assault of an 82-year-old city man.

Scotlund Crompton was 19-years-old at the time police charged him in connection to the Rockwood Avenue incident.

Crompton pled not guilty this morning in court.

An April 27th, 2018 Thunder Bay Police Service news release said the man was out walking when he was approached at 11 am that day by two men.

The suspects ran away, and neighbours came out to help the elderly man and called the police.

Nine witnesses are expected to be called in the trial with their testimony expected to wrap up on Friday.

Members of support for both the victim and the accused were in the courtroom this morning.
