Anonymous Donor Helps Clothing Mission

Time is of the essence for the President of the Community Clothing Assistance Mission to find funding to pay for fixing the building’s leaking roof on May Street.

David Andrews adds a recent anonymous donation of up to $25,000 helps as he faces a $150,000 bill.

“Clearly there’d be safety issues going on here that we’re concerned with, because as water starts to come down through the roof, you’ve got electrical systems in there.”

The Mission President wouldn’t say what other donor sources he’s looking at, but city hall is one of them.

“First started to notice it a bit in the spring, and as we started to investigate a little bit further, we’ve been trying to raise money for a while now. So this anonymous donor is really helping out.”

Andrews adds the donor wishes to match any amount up to $25,000 by October 31st.

“We’re worried about it because we’ve got leaking going on right now, it’s coming down into the store front operation, and it’s really an emergency.”

The Port Arthur Rotary Club has also donated money.
