Pro-Choice & Anti-Abortion Protests Planned

Expect a large turn out of people on the streets of Memorial and Central Avenue this weekend as people for abortion rights and those against express their opinions for all of Thunder Bay to see.

The Campaign Life Coalition, a group against abortion, is going to hold what they are calling a “life chain” something that is taking place simultaneously in other Canadian cities.

A group of pro-choice protesters will also be taking part in the rally, hoping to be the louder voice between the two sides on both Saturday and Sunday.

Organizer Sarah DiBiagio tells us they’ll be out in full force “because they want to show passersby who weren’t anticipating seeing graphic photos of late-stage abortions, that they don’t represent Thunder Bay, we do.”

DiBiagio says the graphic imagery is a tactic used by the Campaign for Life Coalition who has visited our city several times before.

She adds people who may have undergone a recent pregnancy termination could be taken aback if they aren’t expecting to see that type of message.

DiBiagio wants their protest to be a sign of solidarity with those who may be shocked by the imagery.

We’ve reached out to the Campaign Life Coalition for comment.
