You are being asked to get involved with Thunder Bay’s 2020 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games.
Games Manager Doug Henry says they need 800 volunteers.
“To put on an event of this magnitude, there are 900 athletes, 300 coaches, an equal amount of family and friends coming to Thunder Bay from all over the country, it’s a huge effort to put it on. Quite frankly we couldn’t do it without hundreds of volunteers.”
You can apply to help out at the February games by clicking HERE.
Meanwhile, Tbaytel was announced as the games official volunteer sponsor.
CEO Dan Topatigh tells us “Tbaytel is committed to supporting the people, organizations and events who are helping build a stronger community. This is one of those events that’s going to put Tbaytel on the map and it’s also going to help Thunder Bay. The athletes are really excited about this so anything we can do to help is important for us.”
Thunder Bay’s star curler Krista McCarville will be the Honorary Chair for the games.
She says wants to be able to lend her support and expertise to her fellow athletes.
“Throughout my time curling, I always had those dreams to represent my province or Canada and if I can help them reach their dreams that’s what I’m here for.”
