There’s a new organization in our city looking to increase Indigenous businesses’ participation in the northern Ontario economy.
The Anishnawbe Business Professional Association launched earlier this year as a vehicle for empowering First Nation communities and President Jason Rasevych tells us they see gaps in connecting First Nation communities with resource projects like mining and transmission lines.
“A lot of communities are very busy dealing with community issues like infrastructure and other things. Developing their own business community and private sector and forming partnerships there seem to be some gaps there.”
The group is now putting on their first workshop for would-be businesses at their Pathways to Indigenous Prosperity event today at the Delta Marriott Hotel.
