The head of the committee which drew up the proposed changes to moose hunting regulations in Ontario, admits there still could be changes.
Thunder Bay’s John Kaplanis tells us the group he chaired stuck with the directive given to them by the natural resources minister.
That is, to come up with a new moose tag quota process, along with an improved tag allocation process which includes a points system allowing those who haven’t received a tag for years, to get to the front of the line for future draws.
Kaplanis explains the final say will be up to the Ford government noting there may be parts which may be kept and others which could “be discarded.”
The committee chair believes, however, there is “fairly good support from the government” to the changes.
