A 23-year-old man is charged with assault after what police claim was an unprovoked attack on one of their officers.
They say it happened on Brodie Street between Donald and Arthur last night around 10 o’clock.
As the officer was investigating another incident, a male pedestrian bumped into the fender of the cruiser and then struck the officer without warning.
After a short foot chase, the police caught the man.
The officer required a stitch to close a cut on his nose.
