Fifty-two Indigenous youth from 29 communities are learning about science this week at both Confederation College and Lakehead University.
College spokesperson Chris Paci tells us it helps Anishinaabe youth get a feel for post-secondary school and what careers are available to them.
“Students get a sense of what those careers are about and they can then talk about the programs they need to take to get those great careers.”
Students have been learning about geo-caching, cartography, sustainable energy, entrepreneurship and other topics during Science Week.
Science Week with the Outland Youth Employment Program is part of a national network of OYEP Camps, a collaborative project between industry, the province, and Confederation College and Lakehead University.
