The Lakehead University Thunderwolves hockey team’s agreement with the city to use the Fort William Gardens is set to expire at the end of August.
City Council could approve in principle Monday, a new short term agreement that would run from September to the end of August 2020.
The last agreement was a renewal that ran for five years.
Last season the team drew a total attendance of 42,000 for 20 regular-season games.
The 2018-19 season also saw the Thunderwolves pay the city almost $25,000 for ice rental fees.
Mayor Bill Mauro tells us one of the changes in the new agreement includes online ticket sales for hockey games.
“It apparently had been asked for by a number of users. Council approved in the 2019 budget the software to accommodate that.”
