Sheet Metal Strike Drags On

A province wide sheet metal workers strike continues to affect Thunder Bay, including a company called North West Installations on Cumberland.

A spokesperson for its union tells us the strike is now eight weeks old, the dispute centering on hours worked and cost of living.

Negotiations are on-going in southern Ontario.

The company tells us nobody wants this strike, and is focused on keeping business in Thunder Bay when this is done.

It adds it’s suffered the loss of contracts.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
