Expects some news about the idled Resolute Forest Products mill in Fort Frances soon.
According to the Rainy River Future Development Corporation, there has been work behind the scenes in an effort to get the mill opened.
Local economic development consultant Tannis Drysdale remains optimistic.
“As we are currently in a transition period, with lots and lots of moving pieces, we have to thank all the stakeholders and the public for their patience.”
And, a former Chief of Staff to Conservative leader Andrew Scheer is now helping.
The Provincial Integrity Commissioner notes David McArthur has been a registered lobbyist for the town since February, with Drysdale adding he comes with experience.
“He has negotiated sophisticated, complicated TransCanada deals, involving multiple stakeholders. And most important to us, David’s first jobs were in the forest industry.”
Drysdale says more about the mill’s future will be revealed in the coming weeks.
