Pikangikum Evacuees Slowly Return Home

Thunder Bay’s deputy fire chief is expecting Pikangikum fire evacuees staying in this city to head back home early next week.

Greg Hankkio notes the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says the fire in and around Pikangikum is stable, but not under control.

He says the First Nation chief is comfortable with people returning home.

And, he adds two flights left Winnipeg yesterday, with more scheduled.

The evacuees staying in Thunder Bay will be the last to return.
