Shuniah Warns About Open Burning

Officials in Shuniah are concerned about the increased number of open air burning violations.

As a result, several charges have been laid.

Fire Chief Blair Arthur is reminding you if you live or are camping in the community, open burning is NOT allowed between 8 am – 5 pm.

Outside those hours it is allowed, but you must have a permit.

He notes, “with the dry weather expected for this weekend, conditions can change rapidly and any fires could become out of control without any warning.”
