School Buses Cancelled For Some

Some cancellations to tell you of this morning, resulting from the rain.

The Lakehead public school board has closed Whitefish school due to flooding and road closures today.

But, Student Transportation Services adds buses have been cancelled today for all Lakehead and Thunder Bay Catholic Schools in the O’Connor area, south of but not including Connolly Road/Smith Road/Harstone Road), Gillies, Pearson, Marks, Lybster and Strange.

Checking with the OPP, Highway 588 is closed in both directions at Logan Road, between the 593 and 590, for flooding. Also, according to the Ontario 511 website, both directions of the 595 at 588, and Coulson Road is closed. Highway 608 at Chimo Road is closed in both directions. And, Highway 597 is closed in both directions at Stewart Road.

And Highway 11/17 between the 582 and Nipigon is now re-opened, this following a police investigation last night.
