Flooding Subsides, Warning Ended

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority has ended its flood warning.

The warning was in place for Oliver Paipoonge, Neebing, Gillies, and O’Conner because of intense rain which caused rising water levels.

The authority now says the Whitefish River, which rose 1.4 metres, crested overnight and the level is now receding.

Officials tell us 16 to 83 millimetres of rain was recorded over a 48 hour period with the highest levels being recorded in Nolalu.

The Ministry of Transportation says the following highways remain closed: 595, 597, 588, 590, 593, and 608.
