MP Heads To Washington To Talk Trade, Security

Trade, taxation issues and border security will be on the agenda for Thunder Bay-Rainy River’s MP when he visits Washington DC.

Don Rusnak’s office tells us he’ll meet with a Minnesota representative this week to talk about moving Canadian cattle and agricultural goods through that state.

They’ll also talk about tax problems facing dual Canadian-American citizens living in Canada.

And, the local MP’s office adds with the Canadian government spending over $1.18-billion over five years strengthening border security, talk will centre on improving the border crossings between Ontario and Minnesota.

And, he’ll meet with representatives from New Mexico, Kansas, and the Congressional Native American Caucus to talk about Indigenous-related provisions in the Canada, US, Mexico trade agreement.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
