Anyone who gets their vehicle towed away by police will soon have to pay the $80 cost for it, in addition to any other charges.
Constable Mark Catanni explains the new fee will be passed on to the vehicle owner from the towing company.
He says “it reminds the would-be offenders that there are other costs to committing an offence.”
The police officer believes the new program will be up and running in a year.
Catanni notes, police are being forced to have more and more vehicles towed away for various reasons, including more impaired drivers.
