Community Bears Grief At Funeral

A funeral service has been held for a woman and her four children who died in a house fire at Big Trout First Nation.

Geraldine Chapman and her children were flown back to the community this week, with Chief Donny Morris noting the pain felt by everyone.

“Watching them bring in the five caskets one after the other was incredibly painful. You can see and hear the heartbreak of the families.”

About 300 people showed up for the funeral on Friday, which lasted for about three hours.

Community leaders are also noting how many people, including youth, stepped up to help with final arrangements.
