Consultations On Regional Transmission Line Wrap Up

The first round of consultations on the proposed Hydro One Waasigan Transmission Line in northwestern Ontario has been completed.

Public sessions were held this week in Dryden, Ignace, Atikokan, Kakabeka Falls and Thunder Bay.

Spokesperson Steven Mantiful says all feedback has been excellent so far.

Mantiful says a lot of engaged community members were really interested in what the line will mean for local jobs instead of the project as a whole.

He notes Hydro One has introduced its terms of reference for the environmental assessment.

Mantiful stresses they will be holding several other open meetings during the environmental process.

The 230 kilovolt line would run from Thunder Bay through to Atikokan and eventually to Dryden, with upgrades to the local transmission station.

Mantiful says they are always looking for public feedback and Hydro One is always willing to answer any questions.
