Free Compost Back While Supplies Last

It’s back, the city’s popular compost giveaway.

Spokesperson Jason Sherband says the city is allow one pick-up truck full per resident at their John Street landfill site.

He adds he’s glad so many people are taking part in the program.

The compost is made up of leaf and yard waste that’s collected by the city and has been blended with organic waste.

It can be used in flower beds and lawns.

Residents are also advised to bring a shovel and some bags or containers to carry the compost home. Quantities are limited to a maximum of one half ton load per resident.

Access to the compost pick-up area is located east of the old landfill entrance on John Street Road. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am – 5 pm, and Saturday from 9 am – 4 pm.
