Help Coming To Mental Health Services

Ontario’s mental health and addiction services system is getting a yearly investment of $174-million.

Coinciding with Mental Health Week, Health Minister Christine Elliott notes the money will help health centres, but also schools, teachers, students and parents.

“I’m especially excited to announce our government is investing nearly $30-million for child and youth mental health services, with an additional $27-million to fund mental health supports in Ontario’s education system.”

The provincial health minister adds the money is to help reduce wait times, create additional housing and help the Indigenous community.

“With this funding, children and youth are going to receive earlier, faster mental health and addictions help, at schools and in their communities.”

Ontario police officers and first responders who assist those struggling with mental health issues are also getting help.

“Our government will also be investing in new mobile crisis teams, that will help police officers and other first responders manage special sensitive situations.”
