A senate committee is recommending northwestern Ontario senator Lynn Beyak be suspended for the rest of this parliamentary session.
This after the Senate Ethics Officer ruled earlier in April that found Beyak breached sections of the Senate Ethics Code by posting five letters containing what is deemed racist content to her website.
The committee directs Senate Administration to remove the letters from Beyak’s website if she hasn’t already done so.
It also suggests she take part in educational programs related to racism and that she issue a written apology to senators.
The Senate must still vote on the recommendations.
