It was a very close call for a number of kids and a school crossing guard in the north end, following an incident with an alleged drunk driver.
Police tell us it was Wednesday morning when they were called to Vance Chapman school just after 9.
They found the driver of a jeep had almost collided with another vehicle on Huron Avenue near Otto.
Then near the school, the driver moved into a bicycle lane to get around another vehicle that was stopped, waiting as a crossing guard helped kids cross.
The accused almost hit the guard and children.
The 43-year old driver from Thunder Bay then stopped nearby to check damage to the vehicle.
Police charged him for having nearly double the legal limit of alcohol, as well as other charges, and will appear in court in June.
