OHIP Changes Eyed For Travelling Abroad

The provincial government is looking to end funding available to Ontarians when they’re in another country and need emergency medical care.

OHIP currently provides between $50 and $400 a day depending on the level of care provided.

That would end October 1st.

The Ministry of Health and Long Term Care says private travel insurance can offer better coverage.

OHIP will still reimburse you if you’re in another province and need medical care.

The government is also looking to do away with reimbursements for osteopathy services received out-of-province because the profession is no longer recognized in Ontario.
