Now is the time to start looking at preparing your lawn for the summer season and a local lawn care expert has some tips.
Cathy Martin, of Bill Martin’s Nurseryland, says start by raking your lawn since it’s important to get rid of all the dead grass.
She says you can also rent a machine which will help dethatch the lawn.
Martin explains fertilizing is the next step which she recommends doing three times a year using a fertilizer with a high nitrogen content to “get your lawn green.”
She adds fertilizing is also a good way to get rid of weeds because “when you fertilize your lawn a lot and water it well, it’ll be so thick the weeds will not root in it.”
