Drafting community strategies to deal with a disaster or emergency.
That’s the next step now for delegates who attended the Northwest Response Forum in Dryden this week.
The conference brought together emergency personnel, organizations, community representatives and Indigenous leaders to discuss disaster planning.
Chair Sharon Bak is hoping that everyone brings the information they gathered back to their organization or municipality and enhance their capacity to respond.
Bak stresses “it’s not a question of if something will happen, it is a question of when.”
She says everyone needs to be prepared and ready.
Bak notes “even one group, or organization, or municipality enhances their capacity, it helps the entire region.
