Rainfall Warning Issued

The city is under a rainfall warning, with 25 to 35 milimetres expected to fall starting this morning.

Environment Canada officials say it could bring flooding to some low-lying areas, and warn you to stay away from washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

They say it will be heaviest this morning into this afternoon.

It’s expected to wrap up this evening.

Rainfall warning in effect for:

  • City of Thunder Bay

Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall.

Rain will develop this morning and persist into this evening. The heaviest rain is expected later this morning into this afternoon.

Rainfall amounts of 25 to 35 mm are possible by the time the rain ends later this evening.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Don’t approach washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts. Keep children and pets away from creeks and river banks.
