Bus Crash Victims Remembered

Today is the first anniversary of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash in Saskatchewan.

The president of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, Bill Chow, tells us the league is giving all teams the space to remember the deaths of the 16 team members.

He says the Broncos will be holding their own memorial service.

Out of respect to the Broncos franchise and the families affected, the league’s Board of Governors have written into the constitution, the league will never again play a game on April 6th.

The team bus was carrying the group to a game in Nipawin when a transport truck driver blew through a highway stop sign and crash into it.

Those who died were: Glen Doerksen, Dayna Brons, Darcy Haugan, Brody Hinz, Tyler Bieber, Mark Cross, Adam Herold, Stephen Wack, Jacob Leicht, Conner Lukan, Jaxon Joseph, Evan Thomas, Logan Hunter, Logan Schatz, Logan Boulet, and Parker Tobin.

Sixteen people survived the collision.

The driver, 30-year-old Jaskirat Singh Sidhu of Calgary, pleaded guilty to 29 counts of dangerous driving causing death or bodily harm.
