LU Uses VR For Nursing Students

Lakehead University is using virtual reality to teach nursing students about the human heart.

Assistant Professor David Thompson tells us students recently learned about the anatomy of the organ and now it’s time to see how it works first hand.

“We thought adding a little bit of virtual reality, allowing them to go inside the heart and see those valves open and close, would really bring that content come to life.”

Thompson says the idea is the students can picture the flow of blood through the heart and picture it.

He explains “it should help them when they are doing their assessments of patients in nursing.”
