Magnus Theatre is back with the 10×10 Play Showcase this week.
You can see ten performances that are ten minutes long this Friday and Saturday.
First-time writer Shelby Ch’ng has written one of the plays entitled Charlotte Lucas.
“It’s a bit of fan fiction based off Pride and Prejudice. It’s the best friend who doesn’t get much air time in the book. So I’ve written her some different endings that were just a bit more modern and satisfying. I mean in Georgian times she did have a good ending, she ended up married, but I wanted something more for her.”
Director Sarah Mendek-Walker is participating in the showcase for the second time this year.
She tells us she was intrigued when she was tasked with this play.
“When I got this script, it’s interesting, very exciting; it’s really funny and has lots of humour and action in it.”
A gala performance and reception are taking place on Friday at 7:30 pm. Two performances follow on Saturday, at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm
