March Consistent For Snow And Temperature

Looks like March stayed consistent with past years for temperature, with the average around -5.

And while Thunder Bay got about 32mm of rain or snow, about ten less than normal, meteorologist Peter Kimbell warns the snow isn’t done for April.

“Even though we’re well into spring now, the average snowfall for Thunder Bay in the month of April is 12.4cms, and we even have 1.7cms for May.”

The Environment Canada forecaster adds a system affecting Wisconsin and Michigan next week could bring us a little bit of snow.

He’s also recalling a warm spell roughly half way through the month.

“Most notably on the 23rd of March, we hit 12.7, but any of the days that were warm, also had fairly cold night time temperatures, that allowed for some gradual melting.”
