Record breaking cold temperatures and dry air is being noted by Environment Canada for November in Thunder Bay.
But meteorologist Marie-Eve Giguere is really focused on the length of the cold spells.
“Between the 12th and 22nd of November, temperatures overnight were all between -15 and -20, which is a really long, cold episode for November.”
The meteorologist adds we usually get about 56mm of precipitation, last month it was about 45.
She’s also looking north for the cause, zeroing in on northern Ontario.
“The water up there in Hudson Bay froze prematurely, so usually we’re looking at it freezing further in December, we had this cold air earlier in the month.”
The meteorologist adds we weren’t the only ones suffering.
“It’s geographical extent was also very out of the ordinary… I mean, it affected pretty much the whole country for the entire season.”
