Local police are already seeing the increased impact of cannabis on impaired driving.
Constable Mark Cattani tells us it seems people don’t seem to be getting the message it’s against the law to drive while under the influence.
“We got impaired drivers off the road, that’s the good thing. On the downside, people aren’t really heeding our advice. We ran three dedicated RIDE programs over the weekend and during that time we took four impaired drivers off the road.”
Several individuals were arrested for operation of a vehicle while impaired by cannabis, and other tickets were issued for underage possession and operating a vehicle with readily accessible cannabis.
