MP Touts Mining Tax Credit

Mining exploration companies in Northern Ontario are expected to benefit from the Trudeau government’s move to extend a tax credit for five years.

Thunder Bay Liberal MP Don Rusnak explains it was part of Wednesday’s economic statement.

He says it’s something the mining industry and business have been asking for.

The 15 per cent tax credit is given to anyone who invests in mining exploration.

Also part of the economic statement was the support being shown for local journalism.

The government is concerned there are fewer and fewer covering local events in communities right across the country.

Rusnak says an independent panel is being set up to figure out how money will be dispersed.

The Conservatives however, are reported to be concerned it will lead to biased reporting in favour of the Liberals.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
