Nurses Demand Fair Contract

58 nurses with the local health unit are out on the picket line after negotiations between their union and employer broke off Monday night.

Public health nurse and picketer Shelley Aretz says she would rather be providing vital health care services instead of picketing.

The public health nurse tells us they are the lowest-paid in the province and have been without a contract for close to two years.

Aretz adds they want pay equity with their male counterparts within the health unit and wage parity with other public health nurses across Ontario.
