Feds Launch New Automotive Job Site

There’s now a new website highlighting jobs available in the automotive service industry.

Labour Minister Patty Hajdu tells us the new industry website AutoConnex will help provide information to both workers, employers and the government.

“This tool is available to employers and job-seekers all across the country, and the data will be shared with the Government of Canada so we have better labour market data in this particular sector, which will allow us to ensure that our tools and our investments are being done in a wise way.”

Hajdu tells us skilled trades jobs are perceived to be last resorts.

“That is completely backwards,” Hajdu argues. “A career in the skilled trades and sectors like the automotive after-market sector provide really good, quality middle-class jobs.”

The federal government provided over $500,000 towards the new website for the industry helping pair businesses with potential employees.

The auto industry also contributed to funding the new website.
