I love toys and I love nostalgia, so this is right up my alley! The National Toy Hall of Fame has a slew of classics nominated to be inducted into their hallowed halls, and one of my all-time favourites is in the running. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe! I LOVED these toys, the cartoons, and the mini-comics that came with them. I actually kept most of my He-Men and recently gave them to my 3-year-old son. He has been having so much fun with them. Maybe not as much as me, but still, a lot. Among the other toys up for the Hall: Chutes & Ladders (another one I’ve been playing with my son,) Magic 8 Ball, Fisher-Price Corn Popper (the bane of any dog’s existence that’s ever been around it,) Uno, and Tickle Me Elmo (that laugh probably haunts the dreams of parents who caught an elbow wrestling over it with others at the toy store circa 1996.) You can check the line-up here and vote for your favourites here.
Here’s a pic of my son holding our Masters of the Universe collection. This one is in memory of Spikor’s leg. Which my kid broke off within 2 minutes of me bequeathing him with my beloved toys.
