City Council is helping a local pop-culture event get off the ground this fall.
$15,000 from the city is going to ThunderCon to support the convention.
Council approved the request for money last night, which city officials say will come out of the newly-established hotel tax.
The money will be paid back to the city out of the profits from October’s event.
The convention’s organizers first made the request on August 13.
