There’s a northwestern Ontario connection to a new $25 coin commemorating the 250th anniversary of the birth of Techumseh.
Lakehead University arts student Mary McPherson’s image of the 1812 war hero has been stamped on the coin.
McPherson says she was contacted months ago by the Royal Canadian Mint and offered her the chance to be a candidate in the selection process, from there she was asked to design the coin.
She calls it a really big honour to have her work recognized in this way.
