Deep concern is being expressed by a mother of four kids in the north end, since school bus service from the Lakehead board is being cancelled for kids within 1.6kms of schools.
Sandy Bouchard sends her kids to Vance Chapman school, but is worried for their safety.
She believes with what’s going on in this city it’s not safe for her 9-year old daughter to be walking around.
Bouchard adds her daughter is concerned, since Bouchard tells her older kids to be careful, as they venture out on their own occasionally.
She also points out the impending cold weather is a concern. She wonders why if schools cancel recess at a certain temperature, buses should remain during the same time.
Bouchard adds the school board told her the service in Thunder Bay is very good when compared to Toronto.
Bouchard has started an on-line petition, and says she knows of almost a thousand people who agree with her.
