Casino Joins Waterfront BIA

We might see some changes in the north downtown as another business joins the Waterfront Business Improvement Area.

BIA Chair Jim Comuzzi is happy to welcome the Gateway Casino to the group.

The Casino joined the BIA after City Council gave their approval Monday night.

Comuzzi says it’s exciting because the casino is a large employer and property owner in the north downtown, adding they’ve already worked well together on events like Ribfest.

“There are many more things that through the next couple months and our continued partnership with the casino, I think it’s endless where the possibilities lead for our core downtown.”

Local General Manager Jordi Psikla explains the casino sees a lot of benefits in working more closely with nearby businesses.

He’s also looking forward to putting money towards further improving the waterfront. “Obviously we’re a large organization, and the growth and expansion that’s currently happening down at the waterfront is phenomenal, and we want to be an active part of that.” (File Photo/Staff Photo)
